The main financial activity under Multi-Purpose Capital Holdings Berhad (“MP Capital”) is the provision of general insurance services through its wholly owned subsidiary, Multi-Purpose Insurans Bhd (“MPIB”).

Established in 1973, MPIB was formerly known as KSM Insurans Bhd from 1978 to 1991 and Kompas Insurans Bhd from 1991 to 1995. MPIB is involved in the general insurance business offering innovative insurance products and services which are customized to individuals and corporate consumers.

Today MPIB has a staff strength of 300 with its head office in Menara Multi-Purpose, Kuala Lumpur, and is supported by its network of 10 branches which are strategically located in Klang, Penang, Alor Setar, Ipoh, Kota Bharu, Kuantan, Malacca, Johor Bharu, Kuching and Sibu. The company is widely represented by agents throughout the country and with its ever growing network, MPIB is continuously expanding to become a core insurer in Malaysia.

In 2001, MPIB underwent management reorganization with the primary focus of establishing itself as a credible player in the Malaysian insurance industry. Since then it has grown from strength to strength and has become recognized as a significant and active general insurance underwriter. The management is consistently firm on implementing international best practices and performance standards to constantly and progressively work towards being world class. MPIB’s commitment towards the pursuit of excellence is clearly demonstrated in its achievement of the ISO 9002 certification in April 2001. In addition to capitalizing on the synergies within the Group and its available resources, MPIB is leveraging on a wide network of contacts consisting of corporate clients, brokers and financial institutions developed through the years.
